Bethanie, an 1875 French Mission Sanatorium at Pokfulam, has been lovingly restored as the home of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ School of Film and Television. This remarkable architectural gem is a unique setting for special occasions.
Bethanie Museum, which tells the history of the French Mission, Bethanie and its sister foundation Nazareth, is open to the public. Museum ticket holders will be provided with a complimentary guided tour of this historic site (n.b. tour itinerary is subject to venue availability). Advance bookings are highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Standard routing will take visitors to:
1) Bethanie Theatre: converted from two former Dairy Farm octagonal cowsheds;
2) Bethanie chapel: with reinstatement of the original items such as stained glass windows, altar and statues;
3) Sir Y K Pao Studio: with its stunning views of the Lamma Channel and the Peak. Some areas may be closed at certain times due to pre-booked activities. Tour languages are English, Cantonese and Putonghua. Please refer to the schedule listed at the table above under "Date & Time". Museum displays have user-selectable language choice of English, French, Cantonese and Putonghua.
